Nonprofit organizations respond to needs in our communities, raise awareness of social and political issues, support the arts, preserve history and work in countless ways to improve the quality of life throughout the world. They also advance the values of democracy by encouraging participation in voluntary associations that promote the public good. As the nonprofit sector continues its dynamic growth, nonprofit organizations face new management challenges in carrying out their missions.

GSPIA is committed to providing students with experiential education and service learning, and at the same time, helping to improve the performance and effectiveness of nonprofit organizations by increasing the skills and knowledge of leaders, members, and employees. The Nonprofit Clinic, founded in 2001 by Professor Leon Haley as a GSPIA outreach enterprise, has a dual mission of graduate-level education and providing capacity-building assistance to nonprofit organizations.

The Nonprofit Clinic offers low-cost technical assistance for area nonprofits that includes assessment and analysis of an organization’s present situation, as well as a written plan of action on how the Nonprofit Clinic can help. The links on this page provide information on organizations we have served, details on past projects, an outline of our capabilities and a way for students or prospective clients to get in touch.
